What's your WHY?

Every time I speak with an officer to see if they are a suitable fit for the Academy I find out the answer to this question.
You see, answering this question with the answer of - "I have to because of the job" is not a strong enough why.
What happens when the job pisses you off? What happens on those rainy days when you feel tired from shifts?
Your why is not strong enough to mean you'll be consistent, train with purpose and build lifestyle habits.
So what are we looking for?
Well of course one of the whys will be because of the bleep test/chester test and the job, but we are looking to combine this with a PERSONAL goal, a reason you are doing it for YOU.
This looks different to everyone of course, that's why it's personal but it could be things like the following -
- Weight loss
- Building good habits in around the job/family life balance
- Clearing brain fog and improving mental health
- Feeling less fatigued and tired
If we can combine the work why with a personal why we have a strong blend to go take action and create positive change.
So the question to ask yourself today is - What's your why?
Have a good day, stay safe if you're on duty.
