AVOID THE TREADMILL IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR BLEEP TEST SCORES

It is raining but don't be tempted by that treadmill IF your key goal right now is to prepare for your bleep test.

Look, we live in a country where there will be times the weather is that horrid that you have no other option but to train on the treadmill this winter.

But don't make it a habit. It can become a comfort through the autumn and winter - a comfort that won't move you any closer to improving your test performance if you utilise it too frequently.

Why?

Well the treadmill doesn't really correlate with the bleep test at all.

It's not helping you with your pacing or your agility (turning at the lines).

Which are two key components that if you're overlooking will ultimately mean you see minimal progress.

Not only that, it's not relevant enough for you to build any confidence with your ability to go and pass the bleep test.

You need to be working in and around the test outside to gain exposure, condition the body for the requirements and alleviate anxiety.

You can even ask your local sports centre if you can use their sports hall - the optimal environment that even trumps outside!

Train smart and make sure you are placing your energy in sessions that are driving you closer to what you want to achieve.

Jamie

P.S - Running in the rain will create some of the best post workout endorphins you'll ever experience!
